DetailsAncient olive root slabs from the Iznik region of Turkey.
These pieces come from underground olive tree roots that grew for decades in rocky soil.
PROCESS
• Roots are washed before cutting to remove stones and soil
• Cut slowly using diamond wire cutting technology
• Washed again after cutting
• Bark and loose outer wood are cleaned and removed
DRYING
• Air dried for about 1 year
• Kiln dried for about 45 days
• Final moisture content 8–10%
FINISH
• Surface flattened with CNC machining
• Sanded to 240 grit
RESULT
• Dramatic burl grain and natural cavities
• Ideal for epoxy tables, resin furniture and sculptural woodworking
PROFESSIONAL USE & IMPORTANT
• Professional table makers sometimes separate solid root sections intentionally to release internal stress and improve long-term stability
• The pieces are then reassembled and filled with epoxy
• Natural cracks or separations may also occur during shipping — this is normal for olive root material and ideal for epoxy filling
OPTION
• If the slab will be used without epoxy, we can add metal reinforcement on the back side for extra strength
